AXIN™ tablets and capsules contain Cephalexin, a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that effectively treats a wide range of bacterial infections. Available in different strengths  Cephalexin + Clavulanic Acid these formulations provide flexible dosing options based on infection severity. Cephalexin works by disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to rapid bacterial elimination.

Indications 

AXIN™ tablets and capsules are widely prescribed to treat various bacterial infections, including:

 Respiratory Tract Infections – Pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis
 Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) – Cystitis, pyelonephritis
 Skin & Soft Tissue Infections – Cellulitis, impetigo, wound infections
 Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Infections – Otitis media, sinusitis
 Bone & Joint Infections – Osteomyelitis
 Dental Infections – Gum infections, post-surgical prophylaxis

 AXIN™-CV 750 (Cephalexin + Clavulanic Acid) is recommended for resistant bacterial infections requiring enhanced beta-lactamase inhibition.

Dosage & Administration

The dosage of AXIN™ depends on infection type, severity, and patient condition. Always follow a doctor’s prescription for the best results.

 Adults & Adolescents

  • 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours or 750 mg every 12 hours
  • Severe infections: Up to 4 g per day, divided into multiple doses

Children (Above 1 Year)

  • 25 to 50 mg/kg/day, divided into two or four doses
  • Severe infections: 50 to 100 mg/kg/day

 Route of Administration

  • Take orally with or without food
  • Swallow tablets or capsules with a full glass of water

 Patients with kidney disease may require dose adjustments. Consult a healthcare provider for the correct dosage.

Precautions & Warnings

To ensure safe and effective use, consider the following precautions:

 Check for Allergies – Avoid AXIN™ if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillin.
 Monitor Kidney Function – Patients with renal impairment should take reduced doses.
 Use Caution in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding – Consult a doctor before use.
 Complete the Full Course – Do not stop medication early, even if symptoms improve.
 Drug Interactions – Inform your doctor about any other medications, especially blood thinners and diuretics.

Possible Side Effects

AXIN™ is generally well-tolerated, but some patients may experience:

 Gastrointestinal Issues – Nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain
 Allergic Reactions – Rash, itching, swelling (seek medical help for severe reactions)
 Yeast Infections – Long-term antibiotic use may cause fungal infections
 Dizziness & Fatigue – Rare but possible side effects
